英語(yǔ)寫作 篇1
When we read newspapers, we often come across the word pollution. This word was not familiar to the people some decades ago. But now, it is a serious threat to us because.it means the poisoning of the air, seas, rivers and lands, which would do harm to our health.
There are many factories that bring pollution to us. We can not have fresh air in the morning. This is mainly because of the poisonous smoke coming from factories, especially chemical ones. In rivers, seas and oceans, there are industrial wastes. Some factories just throw their wastes into seas or let them flow into rivers. When people drink the water from such rivers, they get poisoned. Besides, there is rubbish from ships and when sometimes an accident occurs in an ocean, oil flows out from tankers.
On land, the accumulation of rubbish in the streets may dirty the city and ruin our health. This is mainly due to the improper disposal of rubbish by people.
If we do mot fight against pollution, surely one day all of us will be killed. Some people like to put the blame on the industrial revolutions. On the contrary, the pollution problem will be solved only with the help of modem science and technology.

I hesitate for a moment after writing down the title of this article, because I've no idea where to start this story. My girl friend definitely can not be described by only a few words. Some times she turns to me and asks "Why do you love me?" I am always stuck at that moment and then after a minute or two utter a few words "Because you're so good." I know my vague answer never satisfies her. But how can I reply otherwise?
Yes, she's so good. There're numerous examples I can cite to illustrate her tenderness, delicacy, warmth and her genuine love for me. A call on the cold winter night, a surprising birth day gift, a pair of gloves that warm up not only my hands, so many times has my heart melted into a sentiment called "being moved".
I'm not a good tempered guy. However, my girlfriend never loses her temper whenever I am not in a good mood or even say sharp words to her. At that time, she'd look at me with great care and touch my hands with hers to calm me down. That's her graceful manner to show her deepest concern.
I have never written a love letter to her though I've received many from my dearest girlfriend. It's not that I'm unwilling to compose one, but that I find it impossible to convey my feelings to her with written words. We've been in love for more than one year. But if once more asked to give reasons why I love her, I guess I'd still say because she's so good.
I can't further this generalized answer into details because it takes me lifetime to do so.

VIRTUE is like a rich stone, best plain set; and surely virtue is best, in a body that is comely ,though not of delicate features; and that hath rather dignity of presence, than beauty of aspect. Neither is it almost seen, that very beautiful persons are otherwise of great virtue; as if nature were rather busy, not to err, than in labor to produce excellency.
And therefore they prove accomplished, but not of great spirit; and study rather behavior, than virtue. But this holds not always: for Augustus Caesar, Titus Vespasianus, Philip le Belle of France, Edward the Fourth of England, Alcibiades of Athens, Ismael the Sophy of Persia, were all high and great spirits; and yet the most beautiful men of their times.
In beauty, that of favor, is more than that of color; and that of decent and gracious motion, more than that of favor. That is the best part of beauty, which a picture cannot express; no, nor the first sight of the life.
There is no excellent beauty, that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.
A man cannot tell whether Apelles, or Albert Durer, were the more trifler; whereof the one, would make a personage by geometrical proportions; the other, by taking the best parts out of divers faces, to make one excellent. Such personages, I think, would please nobody, but the painter that made them. Not but I think a painter may make a better face than ever was; but he must do it by a kind of felicity (as a musician that maketh an excellent air in music), and not by rule.
A man shall see faces, that if you examine them part by part, you shall find never a good; and yet altogether do well. If it be true that the principal part of beauty is in decent motion, certainly it is no marvel, though persons in years seem many times more amiable; pulchrorum autumnus pulcher; for no youth can be comely but by pardon, and considering the youth, as to make up the comeliness.
Beauty is as summer fruits, which are easy to corrupt, and cannot last; and for the most part it makes a dissolute youth, and an age a little out of countenance; but yet certainly again, if it light well, it maketh virtue shine, and vices blush.

There is an old saying that no one is perfect, so everyone will make mistake sometimes, though we want to do best. When we make mistake, we must say sorry to others, for the purpose of showing our regret, so that they will forgive us and continue to keep in touch with us.
Some people think apologize will lose their faces, so they choose not to say sorry. A wise person will make apologize in a natural way and let the past be past, the good way to apologize can help people feel easy. People can find the chance to apologize when they are having communication, they can make the topic about apologize and then saying that he is sorry about what he have done, so everything will seem easy. Apologizing will promote people’s communication and keep their friendship.
So don’t feel losing face, just admit what you have done wrong.

Everybody is afraid of failure, because it means what they do is useless and they waste their energy and time. But people get the wrong idea about failure, in fact, failure is also success. If people want to be successful, they need to take action. Failure at least means people have tried to do, what’s more, people can learn from their unsuccessful experience, so that they can improve their methods. Every failure means the closeness of success, we should take the positive attitude to failure, we can get over it soon and people finally can get the victory. So when we meet the difficulties, don’t be afraid of the bad result, just take action.

Writing
Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic "Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary". You should write at least 120 words, and base your composition on the outline given in Chinese below:
Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary
In many kinds of English tests such as CET (College English Test), TEM (Test for English majors), etc. a test of spoken English will be optional. Some people consider that it is unquestion-ably necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because spoken English is as important as written English. Both of them are effective communication ways for English speakers. But some-times even those top students who are good at grammar and writing skills find that it is difficult to express their thoughts freely when speaking. A test of spoken English will make students attach more importance to oral English, and thus help them with their communicating skills.
On the other hand, there are also people who hold that good reading, writing and translating skills would be enough for the average English learners. College students are already under great pressure from their study. Another required test will be a burden to them.
In my opinion, I believe that a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. And I shall make all my efforts to practice and improve my spoken English.

With the development of economy and technology ,more and more people come to realize that the contact between countries has become more and more closely frequent.
Nowadays almost everyone knows Coca-cola,and when we want to pursue all aspects of all-around development,we can't avoid staying in contact with other countries. So globalization has become a unstoppable trend. Different people have different point of views. Some people believe that globalization is a good thing ,because they enjoy the convenience and quality life globalization brings, whereas others argue that the developed countries are the only beneficiaries of globalization, and the developing countries in the course of globalization suffered a series of environmental pollution problems. Globalization is a double-edged sword.
As far as I'm concerned,we should look at both sides of globalization.Only when we seize the opportunity of development and meet the challenges can we gain the upper hand in the competition.

As it’s known to all, China is popular for its emperor of bicycles. This is because our country is still a developing country and few people can afford private cars. The demand for a means of transport is met by making millions of bicycles available.
Riding a bicycle has a lot of advantages over driving a car. First, it is a physical exercise to ride a bicycle. In contrast, sitting in the car, one tends to gain weight. Besides, it is much more economical to ride a bike than drive a car. On the one hand, the only fee a bike-rider has to pay is the annual tax. However, the annual fees for a car are costly. On the other hand, a bike needn't be equipped with a parking lot, but a car must. Most important of all, it is beneficial to the environment to ride a bicycle because the bike doesn't consume petrol; it is a pollution-free transport. In contrast, the exhaust released by the car is harmful to the environment.
Since China is a developing country with a large population, bicycles will still be the most popular means of transport in China for quite a long time. Most people will still ride bicycles to go to work or to school. The emperor country of bicycles will remain for at least dozens of years.

Task: Governments are encouraging industries and businesses to move out of large cities to regional areas. Do you think the advantages of the development outweigh the disadvantages?
In many parts of the world, industries and businesses are removed from big cities to regional areas because of governmental policies, which I think can bring more benefits than drawbacks.
The main concern for the introduction of industries and businesses is that it can damage the local areas. The wastes produced from factories will give rise to problems in the form of air and water pollutions. Also, the establishment of large shopping malls can attract crowds of people, who may flood into those areas, with the residents’ lives being largely disturbed.
However, the damages to regional areas can be well controlled by planning and regulation. With the contemporary developed technology, pollutions can be minimised to acceptable level, and with the available successful business cases, the disorder during development can be avoided in advance. In fact, once industries and businesses are settled, a diversity of job openings and life choices will be offered to local inhabitants, who will therefore be able to have more promising futures than they used to.
In addition, because cities are usually more prosperous than the other parts of a country, redistributing industrial and commercial organisations to less developed regions can help achieve a more balanced economy. Backward areas will then have more opportunities to develop, and urban areas will be less likely to become overcrowded.
To conclude, moving plants, shops and companies from major cities to underdeveloped regions may lead to a few risks, but they can be easily dealt with. On the contrary, the benefits this policy can produce are of more significance in the long run. (262W)

The Importance of Self-confidence
Self-confidence is very important to our life. As a wise man once said, "If you have no confi-dence in yourself, you are twice defeated in the race of life. With confidence, you have won even before you have started. "
If you are full of self-confidence, your creativeness, your enthusiasm will all be aroused, and you will overcome difficulties. As a result, your dreams will come true. On the contrary, if you have no confidence in yourself, there is little possibility that you would ever achieve anything.
Failure will be following you. But self-confidence comes only when you know yourself. You should know both your weaknesses.

Need A Master Degree or Not
Nowadays, most people want to enter graduate school. In fact, this desire has grown considerably in the past few years. Students struggle to pass the graduate school entrance exam, to survive the pro-gram, and find a job at the end of it. They read many exam preparation books. They may also attend special "exam preparation" seminars and courses. There are some reasons for such phenomenon.
First is the general perception that a graduate school diploma, a master's degree, is needed for getting a better job. Second is that some students might not be sure what they want to do, and a few more years inside the courtyards of academic seems desirable.
In my opinion, this is not reasonable. I don't deny that a few passed and went on, but the majority failed and finally wiped away their valuable times. So we don't have

In recent years, college students find it increasingly difficult to get a job. It sounds strange since young college students are usually intelligent, well-educated phenomenon, aspirant and eager to bring their talent into full play. Then what underlies the strange phenomenon?
There are several reasons for this. To begin with, nowadays college students aim too high. All they want are “good” jobs which could offer good salary, comfortable working conditions, high social status among others. Consequently, most college students are unwilling to accept vacant jobs they consider not “good” enough. Another reason is that there is a big gap between the majors some students study in school and the demands of vacant jobs. So companies think some students are not fit for the jobs.
Solution to the problem requires efforts on both the society and the students. The companies should value the students, talent and knowledge while the latter should not merely aim at material gains. They should be down-to–earth in building up their career. Furthermore, they should face their weak points so as to improve themselves and be more competent.

Modern American Universities
Before the 1850’s, the United States had a number of small colleges, most of them dating from colonial days. They were small, church connected institutions whose primary concern was to shape the moral character of their students.
Throughout Europe, institutions of higher learning had developed, bearing the ancient name of university. In German university was concerned primarily with creating and spreading knowledge, not morals. Between mid-century and the end of the 1800’s, more than nine thousand young Americans, dissatisfied with their training at home, went to Germany for advanced study. Some of them return to become presidents of venerable colleges-----Harvard, Yale, Columbia---and transform them into modern universities. The new presidents broke all ties with the churches and brought in a new kind of faculty. Professors were hired for their knowledge of a subject, not because they were of the proper faith and had a strong arm for disciplining students. The new principle was that a university was to create knowledge as well as pass it on, and this called for a faculty composed of teacher-scholars. Drilling and learning by rote were replaced by the German method of lecturing, in which the professor’s own research was presented in class. Graduate training leading to the Ph.D., an ancient German degree signifying the highest level of advanced scholarly attainment, was introduced. With the establishment of the seminar system, graduate student learned to question, analyze, and conduct their own research.
At the same time, the new university greatly expanded in size and course offerings, breaking completely out of the old, constricted curriculum of mathematics, classics, rhetoric, and music. The president of Harvard pioneered the elective system, by which students were able to choose their own course of study. The notion of major fields of study emerged. The new goal was to make the university relevant to the real pursuits of the world. Paying close heed to the practical needs of society, the new universities trained men and women to work at its tasks, with engineering students being the most characteristic of the new regime. Students were also trained as economists, architects, agriculturalists, social welfare workers, and teachers.

Growing Pains and Gains
I think I have a happy life, though I cannot do the things I like. For example, I like reading different books in my spare time, especially some detective stories. But my mum always asks me to practise playing the piano one hour every day. That's boring.
I like having parties with my friends during the holidays. But I have to do lots of homeworks. Teachers always give us more homework when we have holidays. That's my growing pains and gains.

Everyone Needs Help
1 Did you get any help from others?
2 Did you give any help to people when they needed?
3 Tell your story
In our daily life, we are dealing with different kinds of people, no matter at home, in school, or at some other places. Everyone needs help, I think. And only who are willing to help others will also be helped.
One day I saw a little girl in the street carrying a heavy schoolbag on her back. She was walking happily.
Then suddenly an old man fell down while he was crossing a street. She ran towards him at once, but she was too short to help him to stand. I helped her and we together brought the old man to safety. He thanked us over and over. I think the little girl was, though very young, a very warm-hearted person.
