丑小鴨的故事英文版 篇1
The countryside was lovely. It was summer. The wheat was golden and the oats were still green. The hay was stacked in the low-lying meadows. There lay great woods around the fields and meadows. There were deep lakes in the midst of the woods. In the sunniest spot stood an old mansion surrounded by a deep moat. Great leaves grew from the vines on the walls of the house right down to the water's edge. Some of the leaves were so big that a child could use them as an umbrella.
In the depths of a forest a duck was sitting in her nest. Her little ducklings were about to be hatched.
At last one egg after another began to crack." Cheep, cheep!" the ducklings said." Quack, quack!" said the duck. " How big the world is!" said all the young ones.
But the biggest egg was still there. And then she settled herself on the nest again.
"Well, how are you getting on?" said an old duck who came to pay her a visit." This egg is taking such a long time," answered the sitting duck."
The shell will not crack, but the others are the finest ducklings. They are like their father."
"let me look at the egg which won't crack," said the old duck." You may be sitting on a turkey's egg! I have been cheated like that once. Yes. it's a turkey's egg! You had better leave it alone and teach the other children to swim."
"I will sit on it a little longer."
At last the big egg cracked. How big and ugly the baby was! " That is a very big duckling." she said, " None of the others look like that. Can he be a turkey's chick? I will soon find out. I will make him go into water."
The next day the mother duck with her family went down to the moat. She said, and one duckling jumped in after another.
The big ugly one swam about with them." No, that is no turkey," she said," Quack, quack! Now come with me and I will take you into the world. Keep close to me all the time. Be careful of the cat!" The first day passed, and everything was fine.
Afterwards, matters grew worse and worse. The poor duckling was chased and harassed by all the ducklings because he was very ugly. The ducks bit him, the hens pecked him. and the girl who fed them kicked him aside. Then he ran off and soon came to a great marsh where the wild ducks lived.
He was so tired and miserable that he stayed there the whole night.
In the morning the wild ducks flew up to see their new friend." You are very ugly," said the wild ducks," but that does not matter to us." He stayed there two whole days . And then two wild geese came. Just at that moment the sound of "Bang! Bang!" was heard, and both the wild geese fell dead among the reeds.
It was a terrible shock to the poor duckling.
A big dog appeared close beside him. He showed his sharp teeth and went on without touching him.
"Oh, thank Heaven! I am so ugly that even the dog won't bite me!" sighed the duckling.
In the evening he reached a little cottage where an old woman lived with her cat and her hen. Her eyesight was not good, and she thought the duckling was a fat duck. will be rich if I have duck eggs," she said. So she took in the duckling for three weeks, but he laid no eggs.
The cat was the master of the house and the hen was the mistress.
"Can you lay eggs?" asked the hen.
"No," answered the duckling.
"Then you had better go out into the wide world," said the cat. So away went the duckling.
One evening the sun was just setting when a flock of beautiful large birds appeared out of the bushes.
The duckling thought," I've never seen anything so beautiful."
They were dazzlingly white with long necks. They were swans. He did not know what the birds were.
The winter was so bitterly cold that the duckling swam about in the water to keep himself from freezing.
The sun began to shine warmly again. The larks were singing and beautiful spring had come. Then, all at once, the duckling raised his wings and they flapped with much greater strength than before. Before he knew it, he found himself in a large garden where the apple trees were in full blossom and long branches of lilacs overhung the shores of the lake.
Just in front of him he saw three beautiful white swans swimming towards him.
"I will fly to them and they will hack me to pieces because I am so ugly. But it doesn't matter. I would rather be killed by them than be bitten by the ducks or pecked by the hens." So he flew into the water and swam towards the swans. They saw him and darted towards him.
"Kill me! Oh, kill me!" said the poor duckling, and he waited for his death bowing his head towards the water.
But what did he see in the clear water? He was no longer a dark gray ugly bird. He was himself a swan!
Some children came into the garden with corn and pieces of bread, which they threw into the water.
The smallest child shouted with joy," There is a new one." The other children shouted, "Yes, a new one has come."
He said to himself, " I never dreamed that I could be so happy when I was the ugly duckling!"
丑小鴨的故事英文版 篇2
One evening, the sun was just setting in with true splendor when a flock of beautiful large birds appeared out of the bushes. The duckling had never seen anything so beautiful. They were dazzlingly white with long waving necks. They were swans and uttering a peculiar cry. They spread out their magnificent broad wings and flew away from the cold regions toward warmer lands and open seas.
They mounted so high,so very high, and the ugly little duckling became strangely uneasy. He circled around and around in the water like a wheel, craning his neck out into the air after them. Then he uttered the shriek so piercing and so strange that he was quite frightened by himself.Oh,he could not forget those beautiful birds, those happy birds and as soon as they were out of sight. He ducked right down to the bottom and when he came up again,he was quite beside himself. He did not know what the birds were or where’d they flew. But all the same,he was more drawn towards them than he had ever been by any creatures before. He did not envy them in the least. How could it occur to him even to wish to be such a marvelous beauty? He wouldn’t be thankful if only the ducks would have tolerated him among them, the poor ugly creature.
Early in the morning,a peasant came along and saw him,he went out onto the ice and hammered a hole in it with his heavy wooden shoe, and carried the duckling home to his wife. There,it soon revived. The children wanted to play with it.But the duckling thought they were going to ill use him and rushed in and he frightened to the milk-pan,and the milk spurted out all over the room. The woman shrieked and threw up her hands. Then it flew to the butter-cask and down into the meal-tub and out again.Oh,just imagine what it looked like by this time. The woman screamed and tried to hit it with the tongs, and the children tumbled over one another in trying to catch it,and they screamed with laughter.
By good luck, the door stood open and the duckling flew out among the bushes and the new fallen snow. And it lay there, thoroughly exhausted, but it would be too sad to mention all the privation and misery had to go through during that hard winter. When the sun began to shine warmly again, the duckling was in a marsh, lying among the rushes. The larks were singing, and the beautiful spring had come. Then all at once,it raised its wings and they flapped with much greater strength than before and bore him off vigorously. Before he knew where he was,he found himself in a large garden with the apple trees were in full blossom. And the air was scentedly with lilacs, the long branches of which overhung the indented shores of the lake.Oh,the spring freshness was so delicious.Just in front of him,he saw three beautiful white swans advancing towards him from a thicket. With rustling feathers, they swam lightly over the water. The duckling recognized the majestic birds, and he was overcome by a strange melancholy.
“I will fly to them, the royal birds, and they will hack me to pieces because I who am so ugly venture to approach them. But it won’t matter.Better to be killed by them than be snacked up by the ducks, pecked by the hens,or spurned by the hen wife,or suffer so much misery in the winter.” So he flew into the water and swam towards the stately swans. They saw him and darted toward him with ruffled feathers.“Kill me,oh,kill me.” said the poor creature. And bowing his head towards the water,he awaited his death. But what did he see?Reflected in the transparent water,he saw below him his own image, but he was no longer a clumsy dark gray bird, ugly and ungainly. He was himself,a swan.
丑小鴨的`故事英文版 篇3
One night, when the sun was setting in the beautiful light, a flock of pretty big birds flew out of the bushes, the ducklings had never seen anything so beautiful. They were shining white, and their necks were long and soft. This is the swan. They uttered a strange cry, developed beautiful long wings, and flew from the cold to the warm, to the unfrozen lake.
They flew so high—so high that the Ugly Duckling could not help feeling a nameless pleasure. He kept spinning like a wheel on the water, and at the same time he stretched his neck high toward them, and made a loud, strange cry that scared even himself. what! He could never forget those beautiful birds, those happy birds. When he couldn't see them, he sank to the bottom; but when he came to the surface again, he felt very lonely. He didn't know the names of the birds or where they were going. But he loved them as if he had never loved anything before. He is not jealous of them. How could he dream of being as beautiful as they were? As long as the other ducks allowed him to live with them, he was comforted quickly - poor ugly thing.
Early in the morning, a farmer passed by. When he saw the duckling, he went to break the ice with his clogs and took it home to his wife. It was only then that he regained consciousness. The kids wanted to play with him, but the duckling thought they wanted to hurt him. Frightened, he jumped into the milk tray and splashed the milk all over the room. The woman screamed and clapped her hands. So the duckling flew into the butter bowl, then into the flour bucket, and finally climbed out. At this time it looks disgraceful! The woman screamed and took the poker to hit it. The children huddled together, trying to catch the duckling. They are laughing and screaming!
Fortunately, the door is open. He got into the new snow in the bushes. He lay there, utterly exhausted. The story would be too tragic if it only told about the hardships and disasters he suffered in this cold winter. He was lying among the marsh reeds when the sun began to shine warmly again. The lark sings—the beautiful spring has come. Suddenly he raised his wings: the flaps were much stronger than before, and at once lifted him up and flew away. Others have flown into a large garden unknowingly. Here the apple trees are full of flowers; the air is pleasantly scented with cloves, and a long branch hangs down to the curving shore of the lake. Ah, here is the intoxicating scent of early spring! Three beautiful white swans swam up to him from the shade of the tree. They floated heavily on the water, their feathers whistling. The duckling recognized these noble birds, and felt an indescribable sadness in his heart.
"I'm going to fly to them, to these noble birds! But they'll chop me up, because I'm so ugly, I dare to come near them. But it doesn't matter! It's better to be killed by them than by a duck. It's much better to be bitten, pecked by the chickens, kicked and followed in the winter by the maid who takes care of the chicken farm!" So he flew into the water and swam toward these noble and graceful swans: the animals saw him and immediately He raised his feathers and swam towards him. "Please kill me!" said the poor fellow. He lowered his head to the water, just waiting to die. But what did he see in the clear water? He saw his own reflection. But it was no longer a stout, dark grey, ugly and nasty duck, but - a swan!
丑小鴨的故事英文版 篇4
The ugly duckling hid behind the tree and cried again. This was the first time it had cried. It cried very softly, and the fluttering wings showed how sad it was. It was always like this, and even crying was cautious.
"Mom...Mom, woo woo woo, mom, brother, they laugh at me, woo woo woo, they say I'm ugly." At first, the ugly duckling complained to the mother duck several times, but the mother duck's attitude was always the same. : "Hey, duckling, you are the elder brother, you have to let your younger siblings, they are just joking, okay, don't cry." Always like this, the mother duck will only persuade the ugly duckling to Be generous, do nothing else, don't stop it, just ignore it. This happens more and more times, and the ugly duckling no longer complains to the mother duck. It knows that the mother will not help him.
The ugly duckling is actually not ugly, but compared with other ducks, it has a pinch of black feathers on the wings, which makes it look different. But it is this tuft of hair that makes the owner of the farm love it, and let it taste what is delicious first, and let it play with what is fun. This way, it will inevitably provoke the dissatisfaction of other animals. "Che, what's so amazing, it's just a duck that's ugly to death, the owner still likes it so much, bah, it was delicious last time, do you remember? We didn't eat a single bite, but the owner actually gave it all. "That's right, an ugly duckling..." Ugly ducklings can hear such remarks every day. Those animals just laugh at other people's shortcomings, and then fill their jealous hearts. They don't care about the ugly duckling's feelings.
"Ugly duckling, hahahaha, you are an ugly duckling, you are not our brother at all, ugly duckling, you are just an ugly duckling." A group of ducklings made a loud noise around the ugly duckling, and the ugly duckling was jammed among them, it screamed angrily : "I'm not, I'm not the ugly duckling!" Then rushed out, behind it was the laughter of the group of ducks.
"Hey, have you heard the story of the ugly duckling?" Greyhound stared at the ugly duckling with cloudy eyes, and his vicissitudes of life seemed to have experienced a lot. The Ugly Duckling snorted and replied, "What do you mean? What is the story of the Ugly Duckling? Am I not an ugly duckling?" Said such a nonsense. "Of course it's not you, it's another ugly duckling, he was always laughed at by other animals when he was a child, and even the mother duck didn't like him. He was much worse than you, and his farmer didn't like him either. , I can't get enough to eat, I can't sleep well." The greyhound said so many words in one breath, and when he told this story, his eyes seemed to be shining and piercing. "And then, that ugly duckling is too pitiful. I at least have the owner like it, but no animals like it." The ugly duckling stopped crying and hurriedly asked the next story. "And then, um, let me think about it... By the way, the ugly duckling escaped from the farm and went through all kinds of difficulties, and turned into a white swan, a very beautiful white swan, noble and elegant." Greyhound laughed. He smiled and looked at the ugly duckling, the ugly duckling was a little excited, and his voice even trembled: "I... can I be like the story? Can I be a swan?" Greyhound did not speak, and was silent for a while: "Maybe ."
The ugly duckling stopped crying, and it began to counterattack those rumors, "Hey, I'm unique, don't talk nonsense if you don't have it, I'm not an ugly duckling, I may become a swan!" "The owner just likes it. Me, how can you treat me like this? I might become a swan in the future! Who can say that?"... Those animals thought the ugly duckling was crazy, and it even imagined that it would become a swan in the future? !ridiculous! Of course, the ugly duckling ignores the words of these animals, it wants to grow up hard, and then block those lingering mouths.
After many years, the ugly duckling became a big duck instead of a swan. But it wasn't sad either, and there wasn't even any turbulence in its heart, just some emotion. No animal calls it the ugly duckling anymore, a nickname that hasn't been heard in a long time.
In fact, the reason why the ugly duckling in fairy tales can turn into a swan is because it was originally a swan. The Ugly Duckling knows that, but so what? If you are a duck, then be the best duck. The ugly duckling looked at the water, the crying ugly duckling grew up and became unique and powerful.
丑小鴨的故事英文版 篇5
In a beautiful country farmhouse, a mother duck sits lonely in her stable, hatching her own young. Finally, the duck eggs cracked open one by one, "Secluded! Secluded!" the duck eggs cried, and the well stuck out their little heads. Look! How lively these little fellows are, looking around with curious eyes. There was only one egg still lying there, not moving at all.
"This egg takes so long!" The mother duck began to complain.
"It's a spit chicken's egg! Let it lie there. You can teach the other children to swim first," advised a visiting old duck.
But the mother duck insisted on hatching the eggs. The duckling was big and ugly, but it was beautiful when it swam. The mother duck was a little relieved, and hoped that it would slowly grow up to be more beautiful.
So at the beginning of a new life, this ugly duckling, who finally climbed out of the eggshell, was pecked, ostracized, and ridiculed, not only among the ducks, but also among the chickens. Then things got worse and worse. Everyone is going to drive the poor duckling away, and his own siblings are also angry at him. So mother also said, "I want you to go further!" The ducks pecked it, the chicks beat it, and the maid who fed the chickens and ducks kicked it. So he closed his eyes and fled sadly, to a swamp with many wild ducks, and to a farmhouse where an old woman and cats and chickens lived. As a result, they were still discriminated against. They thought that it could not croak. The duckling was extremely distressed.
One evening, when the twilight was low, a group of beautiful swans flew out from the bushes. The ducklings had never seen such beautiful birds before. Seeing them fly away, they were both dazed and envious, and a deep feeling came out of their hearts. love as if it had never loved anything.
When winter came, and finally one day the duckling passed out, a farmer took him home and gave it to his wife, but he got into trouble again, the farmer's wife wanted to hit him with tongs, and he puffed up his wings and flew away , and flew into a large garden, where it met the beautiful swan again. The duckling suddenly thought gloomily: "I'm going to fly to them, to these noble birds! Even if they kill them, it's better than being bitten and pecked by those who bully themselves." So it flew again Go into the water and swim towards the beautiful swan.
"Please kill me!" said the poor duckling. It hung its head low in the water, just waiting to die.
However, when it saw its own reflection in the water painting of the removal, it was no longer a clumsy, dark gray, ugly and disgusting duck, but a swan, it suddenly realized .
As long as it's a swan egg, what does it matter if it lives in a chicken coop?
The children sprinkled it with balsamic tablets and grains of wheat, and many whooper swans swam around it and kissed it with their mouths, and it felt very happy, thinking happily: "When I was an ugly duckling, I never dreamed that there would be So happy!"
